"The effortlessness of clear articulate sticking hats are better than other brands and the responsiveness in quick grace/ghost notes/doubles is superior. The sound is different and in a good way, perhaps a modern aspect, but retains classic subtleties and fine harmonic structure. They are 16" and by no means sloppy or too washy. The sizzle and swoosh from the partially closed position is fantastic. The bell (the IQ of the cymbal) has a nice ting in the open position and, if you use mallets on the sufficiently open top cymbal, it builds to a fine quick-decay crescendo. This is a professional jazz instrument, but with great presence in an ensemble, from small group to big band.
