Reviews
"22" Sterling is a bit darker compared to the 20" model and also has a stronger effect, which makes it the choice for everything that is more rock-like. The pitch delivers a powerful, transparent bell sound with a dark sustain. The projection is excellent, making it easy to get the right drive for classic rock sounds. The crash qualities are also great: A full and, for this cymbal size, quickly responding attack can be achieved without using a lot of energy. Played as a crash ride, this cymbal delivers a thunderstorm of sound that can prevail against cranked Marshall amps." - Ralf Mikolajczak
"As expected, the 20-inch model is tonally above the two-inch larger cymbal and is therefore also ideal as a crash. Due to the controlled sustain and the wash, which is not too superficial here either, it can also be used as a ride cymbal. The larger model has a more pronounced ride character and opens more sluggishly when crashing. The bell is very present on both cymbals, which is often not the case with Agop cymbals - think of the 30th Anniversary models in particular, whose bell hardly stands out from the basic sound of the cymbals. When playing softly and especially when playing with mallets, the wide dynamic range becomes apparent, which enables the two Sterlings to be used in a wide variety of musical styles. They are certainly not cymbals for the darkest metal or the hardest rock, but other than that, I really can't think of a style where these cymbals would be out of place, which brings us back to the namesake of the Signature line." - Alex Hoffken
