"The 20" Masters Dry rides are medium thin and are designed for low to medium- loud applications. Paiste describes their sound as "dark, dry, and deep" with a "fairly soft feel" and a "pronounced warm ping over dry, deep wash."They have a gray matte finish that's widely lathed to create concentric circles that radiate from the hole to the edge. The stick sound on all three sizes was super clean but low pitched, and the sustain was very controlled and even. The bells emitted a nice, clear chime that poked through the breathy wash without being jarring. The 20" Dry ride had the brightest tone and the most silvery, focused wash." - Michael Dawson
"As well as being virtually indistinguishable in weight, each diameter of Dry ride is remarkably similar in tuning and pitch; they only differ substantially in their level of dryness. The Dry rides are definitely in the dry zone and give a clear, articulate stick sound over a controlled and respectful wash. Patterns are reproduced with watchmaker accuracy while a delicate shimmer builds behind. Playing the bells reveals a harder edge and a few more harmonics while crashing brings an earthy bloom." - Adam Jones
"Dry rides rarely pique my interest. Often burdened by a weird combination of over- and undertones, I usually find them impractical and unwieldy. That said, the Masters Dark Dry Rides were not your prototypical drys. At 20″ and 21″, these fairly similar cymbals didn’t spend much time on the stand together. I used each in a secondary position, and leaned a little more toward the 21″, because the tonal character was just a hair more subdued. That’s not to say that either fell victim to the wildness I’ve seen in other dry models. Each had a very pronounced stick supported by the earthy grit expected from a largely unlathed top. Very controllable and only mildly wild, these unique pies really won me over, finding an equally comfortable home in a folky indie rock rehearsal and a bluesy jam alike." - AJ Donahue
