It’s one of the most versatile pieces of equipment a drummer can buy. Dark cymbals in general are pretty versatile: play them with the tip of the drumstick and you’ll get a wonderfully defined tone that’s both crisp and washy. Whack them with the side of the drumstick and dark rides become large crash cymbals due to their thin profiles. Some drummers don’t even use crash cymbals, just various dark rides. Dark cymbals, like the Agop Traditional cover a vast spectrum of volume. What’s more, these cymbals articulate at every volume. Even when really rocking, individual cymbal hits resonate in quick punches followed by loud washes. And, when playing very lightly, the sound is incredibly pleasant.
