When you think AAX, think of a cymbal you can play all day long on modern or mainstream music – with a range as wide as Bruno Mars to Meshuggah.
AAX El Sabor Picante Hand Crash
Designed for percussionists to slap by hand, this thin-edged, semi-lathed model explodes with bright, dirt-edged sound.
"i play my djembe like a drumkit and so having this hand crash to smack makes my djembe sing." - archonish
"The way this is made it gives it a good crash sound and a great china. Yes, it is great as a china. It has a high tone sound like a china and that metal kind of sound." - little rocker
"Cymbal has been designed for use with the hand, and responds wonderfully with the slightest glance to the edge. You also achieve good ride and bell sounds - experiment with different attacks (single finger like a drum stick, multiple fingers in a claw style, fingernails etc). Super explosive, loads of sustain." - Ben
"Thin enough to smack with your hand but rugged enough to handle a little punishment. Works well with brushes too." - Roman
"I use this cymbal exclusively with hand percussion (mostly cajon). I play a lot of acoustic rock, alternative, and indie music. For these genres, I have found no better cymbal for use with hand. It's very responsive. You can build a crescendo with your finger tips that sounds great when miced up or you can give it a good smack and get a fantastic, dynamic crash. I even use it with wire brushes sometimes." - Jacob Perry
"AAX El Sabor Picante hand crashes sport three playing areas. The heavy, raw bell and center area are suitable for clave stickings and ride patterns respectively, and the lathed, extra thin bow is hand crashable. It's quite a concept, and takes expert cymbalsmithery to take such a hefty slice of metal down to paper thin at the outer edge. So, are they jacks of all trades and masters of none? Not at all. The 18" is proficient in all three disciplines. The deftest tap is enough to open the cymbal for crashing. It does so with a dark warmth that has more than a hint of trashiness, and a sweet decay follows. Attacking the central band with sticks brings out very different characteristics. The unlathed shoulder is very dry and gives excellent stick definition over a smouldering wash and the bell is strident and penetrating - perfect for clanging out fiery patterns." - Team
"True to its name, gives my hand percussion setup some "Hot Flavor." Paired with a Djembe and an egg shaker, it's great for accents." - subsonik
