New Orleans is based on raw hammered cymbal then wide-lathed in a continuous spiral from bell to outer edge to produce woody stick and trashy undertones with more spread than Turk but less wash than Traditional. They feel as good behind a jazz kit as it does on a contemporary setup.
New Orleans Hi-Hat
Is dark and crisp with dry chick.
Results in a bright, rolling wash when played half-open.
Opens up when played aggressively.
"A nice balance of tonality (not too dark, not too bright) and a perfect decay if you don't want too much. They can cover a lot of ground in various styles and so far, all the engineers I've worked with for recording love them. They always comment on how they don't sound brittle like many other cymbals do." - D. Macc
"NO hats are the bomb for jazz and funk (and other things. One pair of hats is dark, crisp, complex, dirty, greasy with just a hint of dryness while the other pair projects clarity, articulation, evenness, transparency, and fullness." - Slinginit
"The hi-hats are cut thin. A heavy rock player might want a more meaty sound, but I'll tell you, these splashy things cut through. In fact, they might produce a bit too much high
end for some drummers. But they did have a funky, washy character that makes them consistent with the "New Orleans" tonality." - Robin Tolleson
"The second I installed the clutch and first dropped the top on the bottom, I knew these were some seriously good hats. These have a fantastic chick sound when played and splash very well. They also open up great if you go from closed to open gradually." - Nubadopolis
