Reviews
"The 20" ride cymbal clearly belongs in the "jack of all trades" category. Such a model, which wants to satisfy all needs, naturally runs the risk of being labeled as ânot fish and not meatâ. The Agop cymbalsmiths have circumnavigated this cliff with ease, because the 20" Ride has a present but not too prominent bell, sounds pearly with a shimmering sound on the body, whereby there is still enough noticable ping left. It can also be crashed if required, so it can be an ideal for pop, light rock, blues or funk, but it could be the right choice for more powerful big band sounds." -Â Christoph Behm
"The 20" Xist ride featured a blend of qualities that made it fun to play. The bell had a very consistent sound, regardless of where or how I hit it. When I rode on the bow, the stick produced a bright, clear ping," with an interesting wash reverberating underneath. I enjoyed pushing the cymbal with the shoulder of the stick, which gave a nice boost of volume when I needed it. Again, I liked using the ride as a crash. I don't normally feel this way about most "pingy" rides, which are usually a little too thick to work as a crash. This cymbal, however, had a pleasant balance of ride and crash characteristics." -Â Dave Previ
"It's rather soft and has a nice ping. One of the highlights is the bell. It's not that pushy and fits in well with a lot of songs. You can also crash it well." -Â Julian
"Very fine cymbal, nice clear sound, nice sustain, the pitch is not too low, so it doesn't get in the way of other sounds in the mix. Versatile use for various music styles and also by using different techniques (sticks, mallets, etc.)." -Â Trigg
"Theyâre one of the few intermediate lines of cymbals that I know of that demonstrate dark tones. This means that the sounds from these cymbals are low-pitched. However, they have bright stick definition, so you get a cool combination of both cymbal qualities. You could use these in multiple musical settings, and theyâd sound fantastic. The downside is that they donât open up too well when you play them softly. You have to hit the cymbals hard to experience the full washy tone that theyâre known for." -Â Brett Clur
