"AAX X-Plosion fast crashes are created using the same core principles as the rest of the AAX series but are slightly thinner, making their response a bit quicker and more sensitive.
They were quick to explode with a full sound, and they got out of the way in a hurry. The 18" due to its bigger size they could be used as crash/rides. When played as such, the result was a quicker decay than I've heard from an HH crash/ride. This allowed me to play rock grooves with a quarter-note ride pattern and still feel there was some air between the beats. These cymbals can be used as accent crashes, of course. In this application, they sounded more like standard crash cymbals than the other cymbals in the series. But their thinness helped produce a deeper pitch without a ton of high-frequency cut. While these models might not make a strong impact on louder, heavier gigs, they could pretty much go anywhere else and add a nice flavor to
