Reviews
"With their blinding finish and numerous perforations, the Holy Chinas have an aura of menace about them. The looks don't deceive, and while note-wise the cymbals are authentically trashy and china-like, the degree of volume and aggression contained within them is almost off the scale. Ear-shredding levels of attack mean that they don't so much slice through the mix as blast a hole in it. A tap of a stick results in a shiver of electric intensity; a full-blooded hit practically illuminates the room. The 17" model is quicker and sharper-sounding." - Adam Jones
"It still cuts through and has just the right amount of sustain. Great choice if you're looking for a china that will give you that great trashy sound." - Vysterion
"The AA Holy Chinas are arguably some of the most popular china cymbals on the market. They’re used by so many drummers, especially in rock and metal bands. This 17” Holy China is has all the trashy tone of the original Holy China. However, it has less volume. It has a great high-pitched china sound. It has a sharp attack with a quick decay, making it a useful tool for expressing quick accents in songs. The trashy tone is also great for playing breakdowns." - Brett Clur
"It has the right amount of trashy high end that bites hard but quickly gets out of the way." - Brian Whitehorn
"It is well known that the Holy China cymbals are very loud and snappy, and nothing has changed in that regard, and the 17" model can also keep up very well in terms of aggressiveness. The pitches between the three AA models are very well graded, and in this respect they fit together perfectly both as a duo and in a trio. The 17" is the right combination for the club gig. This aggressive sound can be used particularly well with crisp funk rock played. With a hearty playing style, a certain trash factor develops in the attack and a mids in the sustain. If you hit the cymbals a little harder, they remain astonishingly transparent, but still deliver the solid upper mids, so that they also appear relatively penetrating. The response of the 17" is of course extremely fast and very quick." - Ralf Mikolajczak
