OM is the result of Cindy Blackman-Santana's liaison to achieve the sounds she was looking for, more of an out-and-out classic power-jazz set, a nod towards her great mentor, Tony Williams who was no light hitter. So the OM had to be compelling, capable of withstanding a good thrashing, capturing the vibier, more dynamic cymbal sounds from the golden era of Jazz.
Cindy Blackman OM Crash
- Blends together into set perfectly, shimmering into life quickly when hit.
- Initial brightness soon gives way to more involved mix of frequencies, centered around low, dark notes while trashiness present.
- Ends up with quick decay.

"Dynamic, jazz range encompassing Cindy's musical experiences. The OM crashes blend together perfectly, shimmering into life quickly when hit. Initial brightness soon gives way to a more involved mix of frequencies, centered around a low, dark note." - Adam Jones
"I usually prefer to mix and match series and models from different manufacturers to have a wide palette of sounds to work with. But the Om series felt great as a complete unit, whether played in a straight-ahead jazz context or as part of a vintage-style classic-rock setup. I really enjoyed how these cymbals could build to a roar without sounding harsh or indistinct. Even when struck firmly, they sounded mature and "worn in," with softer highs and more mid and low frequencies than I expected from cymbals fresh out of the kiln. The 16", 18, and 20" Om crashes were perfect complements to the ride. The 16" had a gritty but shimmering crash sound, while the 18" had a more aggressive edge. The 20" crash worked well as a washy secondary ride and as a big, emphatic crash." - Michael Dawson
