When you think AAX, think of a cymbal you can play all day long on modern or mainstream music â with a range as wide as Bruno Mars to Meshuggah.
AAXÂ X-Plosion Ride
- A large, raw bell boosts the crash-ability factor in a cymbal thatâs equally at home performing light ride or heavy crash duty.

"The name X-Plosion ride might lead you to think this 20" would be hard and aggressive. Not necessarily so - riding near the outer edge the tone is warm, the stick tip feeling cushioned and soft. Crash-riding here delivers a dark whoosh, still with supple stick clarity. Moving up closer towards the bell the sound gets tinnier and sharper, harder with more 'ting' - it's definitely a two-in-one ride. Wherever you tap, there is always a good spread and enough wash to support the ride notes, making this a musical cymbal, not a clanger. It sizzles without feeling thin or weak. The bell is distinct but not divorced - it too has a warm, middly peal, easy on the tinnitus. Overall, you perhaps wouldn't call this an obvious jazz cymbal, but it is that versatile and will find a home in plenty of styles." -Â Geoff Nicholls
"The first thing I was looking for over my 20" AA medium ride was a more pronounced bell. The bell is big, and cuts like crazy even through the heaviest metal. Despite how heavy the cymbal itself is, it has a very nice ping to it for lighter jazz applications, and can be crashed on. It literally can be anything you want." -Â Dave from Chan
"You can play it like a ping ride and it has a perfect sounding bell that will cut through anything. Then you can crash it." -Â Mark
"This 20" ride's stick definition was impressive, and near the edge the wash was light and smooth. When I played at a consistent velocity moving from the edge to the center, the crescendo was very natural, and the attack became clearer with an increasingly more defined ping before l arrived at the large raw bell, which had an icy brilliance that made a strong sonic statement in its own right. The explosiveness of this cymbal was
akin to a racecar gracefully accelerating from zero to
sixty miles per hour in seconds. The smooth transition
from ride to accent resulted in a quaking crash that
retained a glassy wash with a top-end growl, decaying
quickly and not interfering with the clarity of subsequent ride patterns." -Â David Clauro
