HHX brings out lows and complexity of tone, quick to speak and maintain quality at all dynamic levels.
HHX Complex Medium Ride
It employs a combination of HH and HHX hammering, a raw hammered bell, and a number of the aforementioned proprietary techniques – resulting in one of the richest, sweetest ride cymbals Sabian has ever produced.
The 20” Complex Medium ide is big, thin and dark – with a medium-size hand-hammered raw bell – a combination that brings out the lows and complexities of this cymbal’s tone.
"HHX Medium Complex rides are thick enough to produce a clean, sweet "ping" while still possessing a rich and deep wash.
The 20" opens up a bit quicker than the 22" and has a higher
overall pitch. But both versions sounded expressive and nuanced at lower volumes, and both were big and bold in louder
situations. The hammered bell tones were much darker and softer than they are on other HHX models, and the overtones emanating from the bow were deeper and free of midrange hum. Aside from
traditional bebop or super-aggressive metal, you could cover any gig or session that comes your way with one of these HHX
Complex Medium rides." - Michael Dawson
"The sound of the HHX Complex Ride cymbals compliment in a similar way to each other. While the 20: Medium Ride seems a bit more focused, with a little more presence in the attack and a slightly higher dynamic range. It can be used in all possible directions, from traditional jazz to modern styles of pop & rock." - Team
